Settling In Sunday

The sun hadn't peeked over the horizon yet
this morning when I went out to check on Jaz.
He was perfectly fine,
so I removed the muzzle for
a few hours.

It was gorgeous as the sun rose.

I could hear Jaz's gut sounds
from where I stood.

The rye grass is happy with
rain and cool temps.

Red river sandy loam —
why my lil grey horse is sometimes orange.

Say, you two clean up real good!
Pokey is finding it hard to stay awake.

Then it was time to put the muzzle back on.
At least he can drink.

Mama, please take it off.

FINE then,
I'm leaving.
I'll go pretend I'm
eating on that round bale.

Oh, poor Jaz! That looks like no fun at all.

I'm sure he'll forgive you... eventually.

Maybe if you add some bling to the muzzle, he'll look happier about wearing it? Poor fellow!

So glad he's home! Any more colic since the grazing muzzle?

Bonnie must wear one when new spring grass comes in she hates it so much that she's destroyed three.

Jaz is just making a new fashion statement, I think! ;)
What a beautiful morning, even though I hate getting up early, I love seeing my horse early in the morning. There is just something so wonderful and fresh about a horse in the morning. Fresh? Well that was a weird word to use. I'm sure My Boy would call it "hungry", hee hee!

Okay so I asked the question in your other post about this if you have sandy ground there, which it looks like you do but then when I thought about it, I don't guess he has been back long enough for the sand to cause it...But anyhow we have to add a few tablespoons of metamucil every week for our old man...

So far, he's perfectly fine as long as we don't allow him to pig out 24 hrs. a day. I'm slowly increasing the amount of time he's out of the muzzle. Other horses might avoid being caught and muzzled, but Jaz is so good-natured about everything.

The horses get Sand Clear one week a month; it's too sandy here not to. They also get bran added to their food.

oh, i hope jaz gets better soon. i think it's odd that you provide the natural lifestyle for your horses, with freechoice hay, and he wasn't doing well on that. he is the exception!

he sure is pretty. i'll be thinking of him this week, hoping he's doing better. please post often!

Aww, I get the same forlorn look from my pony when I put his muzzle on.

Poor Jaz looks like the guy from Silence of the Lambs.
I'm glad he's settling in and today is a brand new day.
