80° No More

OK, which one of you hexed us with your nasty weather? A high near 80° Saturday, to a high yesterday and today of 30° — dang! We blanketed the horses last night and what a muddy mess they are this evening. They are wet, but they are nice and toasty warm up under their filthy blankets.

This yucca looks pretty pitiful.

Even poor Jorge looks cold and pathetic! He is our Mexican Day of the Dead figure that guards our front entryway.

A big THANK YOU to Tuffy Horse for the Golden Horseshoe Award! I'm honored.

I do not miss the Texas weather. We lived near Denison and it was either boiling hot or freezing cold. Sometimes in the same 24 hour period.

Ok I *know* it is WAY colder here, but at least we don't have such drastic swings in temperature!
And dang it those icy pics look chilly.

Yeah, living here definitely can have its share of surprises. When I fed the dogs at 4:10am, it was sleeting. Wonderful. I commute 43 miles. This afternoon will be as though nothing ever happened.

Hey, you're the one who sent us this crap! Thanks! :P

We woke up to a sheet of ice everywhere this morning. Of course, the big dummies (all three of 'em!) didn't bother to use the run-ins...noooo...that would require using half an equine brain cell. So, they were wet this morning, but not wet to the skin, so that's good. I can't even feel sorry for 'em because they had the option to get out of the sleet, but they chose NOT to. Silly beasts.

I want a Jorge! He's great!

Ohhhh!!! A silver thaw! I love when that happens (b/c it is pretty but it is not fun to walk or drive on!)

Mine only run in the run-in if I put food in there. And even then, I really have to be careful because the slightest NOTHING and they will wheel and bolt outta there like they're being chased by bears. I've had several near misses. Mine would rather stand out in the middle of it or at most, back their butts into a big ole cedar tree. That run-in was the biggest damn waste of money. I appreciate it when it's icky and I can get out of the weather and spend a few minutes with them, provided they aren't so spooky I run the risk of being mowed down.

OOOOh! Pretty icicles! Our snow is gone now, but this morning, i saw fresh snow north of us in the Ssddle Mtn area. It snowed a little more here the other night, but didnt stick. My ponies were out in the big corral playing this afternoon. They were pretty goofy.

Wow, crazy weather! I can't imagine. Call me crazy, but as much as I like the warmth, I feel like winter is a season that just has to be a bit chilly. Especially around the holidays, or it just doesn't seem like the holidays!
Congrats on the award!!

That ice is really lovely actually. Sorry it was so cold, though. What a huge temp. fluctuation!
