Baby, It's Cold Outside

Warm Gatorade and hay: breakfast of champions
(and think-they-ares)

I said yesterday I didn't mind getting a little bundled up as long as it wasn't windy. I lied.

The Boyz were running, bucking and playing before the sun came up this morning. I heard them long before I could see them. I sat here in my warm hobby/computer room, watching them out the window as they played a rousing game of Bite Your Buddy's Face.

Later, when I went out to toss them some hay and give them warm Gatorade, I saw that it was 19°and still windy. I'm not riding today unless it gets quite a bit warmer than 19, that's for sure! I can see you snow bunnies from the north rolling your eyes, but my blood has thinned since moving to Texas in the early 80's.

It's a good day to putter, write, watch Christmas movies, and drink tea. Have a great Sunday.

No me, I wouldn't ride in those kind of temperatures.......especially if the horse isn't used to them. I'd be worried about causing lung issues.

We're not working horses here for exactly that reason. The temperatures are colder than we or my horses are used to.

I really think that cold (and hot for that matter) are relative.
For example, when spring comes and it hits +10 (celsius) we're all like "woo hoo its soooo warm!" and walkin around in t-shirts. Whereas when fall comes in the temps start dropping to +10 its like "damn where'd I put my coat!?"

Warm gatorade sounds good me, but then again the weather has been so crappy lately almost anything warm sounds good to time....especially if there is rum in it!

You have a great Christmas if I am not online again until then.

I totally know. Thank goodness we have an indoor arena where we board, but cold is still cold. I keep trying to determine what's too cold to ride. It was -1 yesterday, DEFINITELY too cold to ride! lol It should be 37 by Christmas Eve though, so I think we'll be riding for sure.

cencowgirl read my mind with what she said, I was just saying the same thing last thursday to the horse chiro. He's not sure whether it's worse to do his work in the summer or winter, there are downsides to both.

Your guys sure look nice and happy toasty though!

Your Boyz look so warm and cozy. I've never heard of feeding gatoraid to horses. Cool!
