Getting Down With My Funky Self

After a day of bathing draft horses, I threw clean clothes on and headed to WalMart in Gainesville, TX for grocery shopping.

Heather turned me onto this great stuff for Poco's thick, frizzy mane. I used it last time we rode up there and was surprised at the results. We also used it on O's ball-of-a-tangled tail with great success, so I headed to the ethnic hair products aisle.
I excuse myself to an older African American woman checking out the products. I grab 2 bottles of Pink and this woman looks rather incredulously at my poker straight hair, then at the bottles in my hand.

Her:
You use this?

Me: Uh, not exactly. I have this horse with the nappiest mane you've ever seen and it really works.

Her: Does it smell bad?

Me: No, it smells pretty good.

Her: I'm gonna try me some.

Crap, I've turned into a People of WalMart.

LOL @ Walmart People! I'm going to get me some of that for Rosie's mane and tail! She has dredlocks in her tail!

I love the ethnic hair section for products that work great on horses.

I don't have anyone with 'nappy' hair, but some of my guy's tails start to break off this time of year. They just get dry and brittle and swishing flys makes them lose a couple of inches every summer. I found the ethnic leave in conditioners with coconut oil does a great job of keeping their manes and tails soft and pliable.

There is also an ethnic scalp conditioner that has sulpher in it that works great for the tailbone. Really helps soften the skin and helps heal and soothe any itchy spots.

Thanks for starting my day with a laugh. A good, deep belly sort of laugh!
Have you seen the WalMart people site with the great pictures of things sighted at WalMart? It's at: http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/

That is funny. I will look for you on the video. My teen stepson will probably be on it too. He and his buddies have "spend 24 hours in WalMart" on their bucket list. They tried and lasted about 5 hours before getting kicked out around 3 am; only ones in the store for most of the time, so I'm sure they got lots of video time.

Thanks for the product tip. Very creative.

Ha! That's hilarious! :D It's a good thing Ellsworth doesn't still have nappy hair or I'd be on my way to get a bottle of that stuff now.
