Itchy and Bitchy

Dear Boyz,

We talked about this last year, but recent events indicate you need a refresher lesson.

The following are photos of poison ivy. Please study them.

Now, Boyz, I know sometimes you are not keen on me hugging and smooching you. It's a Mom thing — I can't resist. Since you are spoiled rotten, I feel you should be a bit more tolerant, if not entirely indulgent of my PDAs.

Please avoid these plants so that I can avoid looking like this:

Any questions?

Love,

Mom

Ooohhhh, it looks awful!
Have you tried Zanfel? My Doctor suggested it, since he is always outside and tends to run afoul of PI. It worked for me. Dried up the rash and stopped the itching almost immediately.

Ugh. Growing up in So Cal, my brother somehow managed to get into poison ivy all the time. I managed to avoid it despite climbing the same hills as him and not really knowing what it looked like. Fortunately, we've got nothing but sagebrush in Nevada now. I hope it clears up soon.

Sorry Leah, that looks itchy-painful :( I've never run into it (knock on wood) What are you doing to feel better? Homemade remedies? A couple beers? Whatever works, right?! Hope your feeling better soon.

There's PI wrapped around the trees. I have it on the left side of my face from hugging and smooching Pokey. I found a lightly abrasive scrub to treat the rash and wash the oils from my skin. Then I use Band-Aid anti-itch gel (formerly Rx Rhuligel), which is camphor-based and drying. As if my middle-aged jowls aren't bad enough, I look like somebody socked me in the jaw. Won't be able to wear make up today. That oughta scare people off.

Oh man! I am so allergic to poison ivy. I usually end up with it affecting me internally with a fever, full body rash and flu-like symptoms....along with the blisters all over my my body. gah!

Are they rolling in the stuff?
Girl, you've got to get hubby out there to irradicate that crap.
Do you know that my hubby and twinlings aren't even affected by poison ivy at all?
Lucky duckies!

Feel better soon!
